James Lang presented a grant cheque for £1,500 to ACCORD’s Chief Executive, Helen Simpson, on 10th March 2020.
The request for a contribution to the hardship fund was the first online application received by P3 and Helen said that “the form and process worked well and was easy to complete”
“Alongside dealing with a life changing /shortening diagnosis, an individual’s ability to work may be impacted or their benefit assessments are reviewed to maximise the person’s entitlement, this can take time. All sorts of issues may arise and being able to access financial support at these most difficult periods can relieve stress and make a huge difference in the individual or their families lives and well-being.
This is where ACCORD can provide assistance in times of financial difficulties, we can only do this as the Providing for People of Paisley (P3) Trust have entrusted to us a small grant to be used for such occasions. This can be used for transport to visit loved ones, marriage certificates, bedding, clothes and supporting end of life wishes of a short family holiday to name a few of this situations we have supported through our P3 fund. To be able to support families at demanding circumstances where there has been real financial hardship, does make a difference in people’s lives, we are very grateful for the continued trust in ACCORD by P3, to use this grant, hopefully, wisely.”
Having instant access to this fund can and does make a huge difference very quickly to people in financial difficulty, whether patients or their families, whilst they live and deal with a life limiting illness. “
As Helen heads towards retirement at the end of March Providing for People in Paisley wishes to acknowledge the long association with ACCORD through Helen. P3 looks forward to continuing this association with her successor, Jacki Smart.
